The Association of Ghana Industries, AGI is seeking to equip SMEs in construction to help them deal with challenges in the sector.
There are concerns that the main contractors in the industry have refused to engage small contractors due to what they say is delay in the execution of work.
“If we equip these small contractors then we are hopeful that they will be able to collaborate with the main contractors to get jobs from them and not seek for jobs from government,” Dickson Osei Asibey, a consultant for the AGI told Joy Business.
“Among the things we are going to do is training that we are going to organize for them in modules and offer technical assistance, he added.
Regional chairman for ASROC, William Bondzie enumerates to Joy Business some of the challenges facing the industry.
He said the challenges are in three folds; first how to win the contract; how to execute and finally how to get paid promptly after execution.
