The Government says it is considering a request by ex-workers of the defunct Ghana Airways to institute an inquiry into circumstances under which the national carrier was liquidated.
The ex-employees accuse former President John Agyekum Kufuor of running down the airline and selling its properties to his relatives and cronies.
They also claim he personally ensured they were not paid their end of service benefits.
Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa tells Joy News the allegations deserve some attention.
“Government has received the petition former workers of the defunct Ghana Airways have presented to us. Our position now as a government is to look at the issues they have raised and meet with them at some point and come to a certain understanding.
“A lot of the issues they have raised are issues that are worthy of investigation. Beyond the fact that Ghana Airways was liquidated, Ghana Airways assets were sold and all of that, they have gone beyond to raise some other issues about who bought what. They have raised other issues that some of them have not received their package.
“We will make our position known on this matter,” he assured.
