A stunning strike from former Real Madrid youth academy player Pablo Sarabia denied Keylor Navas a clean-sheet when he scored the game’s best goal of the day on 83 minutes with a strike from 25 yards.
But further goals from Rodriguez and Cristiano Ronaldo in the closing stages ensured Real Madrid ended the afternoon on a high.
Facing Zidane’s charges was always going to be a difficult task for Getafe’s new manager Juan Esnaider who was appointed in mid-week after 10 losses in 12 matches prompted the sacking of Fran Escriba.
And so it proved to be. The visitors dominated the match from start to finish and such a comfortable showing allowed Zidane to make three early substitutions as the head coach began to contemplate a challenging home encounter with Villarreal on Wednesday night.
Real Madrid have now won seven consecutive league matches and their latest victory puts increasing pressure on Barcelona who host Valencia on Sunday afternoon.
