AshantiGold have set a target of securing the Premier League title when the new season starts on September 5.
The Miners, who were runners up last season, must replicate their impressive performance in pre season on their league campaign which begins with a game against Bechem Chelsea at the Golden City Park on Sunday.
The Obuasi based club are planning to use the league to prepare for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
CEO of Ashgold Kudjoe Fianoo says his side is keen on ending the dominance of Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak in the top flight.
“We would want to make a mark in the league. We placed second in last season and we have to build upon that by grabbing the title.
“I know it is not going to come easy because Kotoko and Hearts lost out last season. They will want to come back and fight for the league title.
We want to assure them that we are going to give them a good run for their money,” he said.
“We have also confirmed our participation in the CAF Confederation Cup. We think that it is also another platform for us to rewrite our history in African football,” he said.
