Ghana World Cup star Kevin-Prince Boateng met the expectations of AC Milan fans after impressing in his first match for the Rosseneri on Wednesday night against Barcelona at the Camp Nou.
The on-loan midfielder made a starting role and formed strong partnership with Andrea Pirlo and Clarence Seedorf.
Boateng was later involved in a midfield tussle with veteran defender Carles Puyol midway through the second half.
Puyol landed heavily on Boateng’s thigh after a mid-air challenge which saw the Milan medical team attend to him at the touchline.
Barcelona opened the scoring through David Villa but Boateng’s work rate from midfield and his partners ensured Filipo Inzaghi drew level.
Boateng was substituted in the 87th minute but Barca went ahead to win 3-1 on penalties.
The 23-year-old is now set for the Italian Serie A opener against Lecce on 29 August.
