Black Queens coach Yusuf Basigi has hailed the battling qualities of his side after their 2-1 victory over Tunisia in the African Women’s Championship qualifier.
The Queens fought back from a goal down and a player to less to clinch the all-important victory.
The result gives Ghana a huge of chance of making progress and Basigi believes the resilience and strength of the ladies proved instrumental.
“This game was very difficult. This time round we played very well especially in the first half,” he told Adom Sports.
“But the penalty was very doubtful. First penalty and second penalty were all doubtful but they fought back.”
“They fought back and equalized and went ahead to win.”
“This speaks volumes about the character of the players. I have really respected the girls. Despite all the odds, they fought to the end of the game.”
The return leg is in Accra next Tuesday.
