Ghana Black Queens beat Tunisia 2-1 in the African Women’s Championship final qualifying round first leg tie on Wednesday in Tunis.
The tie gives the Queens a strong chance of qualifying for the tournament in Cameroon later this year.
They however had to do it the hard way coming from a goal behind and a player less.
The Tunisians took the lead in the 33rd minute through the spot before Samira Suleman equalized for the Queens.
Ghana were then reduced to ten after keeper Patricia Mantey was sent off with substitute keeper Nana Ama Asantewaa proving a hero after saving another spot kick from the Tunisians.
With the game nearing a draw, Priscilla Adubea fetched the winner in what could prove pivotal in the tie.
Tunisia now have a daunting task of eliminating the Queens from the qualifiers in the return leg next Tuesday’s second leg tie at the Accra Sports Stadium.
