It is matchday six of the league with all eyes glued to Accra to witness the top of the table clash. Dwarfs began the weekend with a 3-1 win over Inter Allies. Two main questions are being asked prior to this weekend's game; Will Kotoko break the jinx of Dormaa? and will Tom Strand be on the bench for Medeama against his former side?
HEARTS VS WA ALL STARS
Two unbeaten sides square off in Accra in what is expected to be one of the games of the season. The Phobians are buoyed by the return of their Japanase American trainer and still have the momentum following their miracle of Tema. If there is any team that could spoil their party, it is Amos Adepa’s Wa All Stars. The Wa side are one of the most organized sides in the league and have keeper Richard Ofori to call upon yet again. The Black Star goalie has let in one goal all season and will be instrumental in how the game goes. Will it be the shushi football of Hearts or the Saudi soccer of Wa All Stars.
ADUANA VS KOTOKO
This game would have been titled a title clash on the basis of pre-season form and players acquired but the script has been totally different. Both sides endured torrid starts to the league and Aduana and Kotoko needed weeks four and five respectively to record their first wins of the campaign. However, this will count for nothing when both sides square off in Dormaa. Kotoko are yet to beat Aduana in Dormaa and if this trend is to continue, it could have ramifications on David Duncan’s future. Romanian Aristica Cioba has improved the Dormaa side since his appointment and will aim to get Aduana’s seventh point of the campaign with three points on the day.
DREAMS VS WAFA
Football artistry will be on the fore when two hugely talented sides; Dreams FC and WAFA square off in Dawu. CK Akonnour’s charges are now three matches without a win after a blistering start to the campaign. Dreams return to Dawu after losing 1-0 to Techiman City. WAFA on the other hand, have been poor on the road so far. Losing all two of their away fixtures so far. The Sogakope side will be hoping to improve on their form on the road.
HASAACAS VS CHELSEA
The ABA of Hasaacas; Ernest Papa Arko , Eric Bekoe and Samuel Afful, will be hosts of third placed Berekum Chelsea at the Essipong Stadium and will be aiming to fire Hasmal to victory while Liberty Professionals.Hasmal have usually produced entertaining games so far this season. Chelsea are also on a good run of form which seen the Berekum side climb up to third in the league. A draw in Obuasi against Ashantigold, a win over Kotoko and Medeama have ensured Solomon Odwo’s side have been one of the form teams.
LIBERTY VS ASHGOLD
Liberty Professionals, ably marshalled by police officer Samuel Sarfo, play undefeated champions Ashantigold at the Carl Reindorf Park. The Dansoman side have a hundred per cent record at Dansoman and will be hoping to add Ashantigold to their victims. The Miners however are unbeaten this season. A win and four draws leaves the Miners on seven points, six behind leaders. Will Liberty continue their 100% record or will Ashgold cause an upset?
MEDEAMA VS BECHEM UNITED
Tom Strand will be back on the bench when he faces his former side Bechem United. Bechem are poor on the road but Medeama have been poor in the campaign thus far. The Yellow and Mauves have a solitary win to show so far despite carrying the flag high of Ghana in the Confederations Cup. Strand and his boys will use the game as a dress rehearsal for the round of 16 clash against El Ahly Shandy next week.
NEW EDUBIASE VS TECHIMAN
New Edubiase play Techiman City at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium. Edubiase are still trying to build a team following wholesale departures while Techiman City, especially Baba Mahama has been a delight to watch. Edubiase have won one game so far against Dwarfs and will and hoping to add to that. Techiman City however will be hoping to gain their first away point of the Ghana Premier League.
