Ghana coach Avram Grant has debunked rumors he begged Adam Kwarasey to return to the national team.
The Israeli coach, ahead of Ghana’s double header against Mozambique, was of the view that players need to show commitment and desire to the national team.
Avram was emphatic in his stance that players will be called on merit and no one will be begged to don the national colors during his tenure.
“The players need to convince me that they deserve to be in the squad. I don’t convince any player,” Avram told Joy Sports.
“The days that Ghana beg players to play for the national team are finished as long as I am here.”
“They need to be proud of the Ghana team. You cannot play any national team without desire.”
“I don’t convince any player, if you don’t have any desire just tell me and I will not call you. I visited the players and I call the ones who I feel are good for the national team.”
Avram Grant will be handling the Black Stars for their second competitive game in Accra and third game in charge in Ghana.
