Barimah Atuahene reveals secret behind Hearts wins

National Chapters Committee Chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak, Barimah Atuahene, believes his side are still underdogs despite their blistering start to the campaign.

Hearts of Oak overcame a 2-0 deficit to inflict the first home defeat of the season to Inter Allies.

Atuahene was however still cautious and asked the teeming fans to be measured in their approach.

“We went to Libya for our pre-season and we didn’t perform and we came back to play the GHALCA G6 tournament and the team failed to perform but we kept on believing ourselves and the coach as well and he is now delivering to our expectation,” he told Asempa Sports.

“Beating Inter Allies at the Tema Sports Stadium was something we expected because of you take a critical look at the club’s history, the club has never lost a game on Palm Sunday.”

Hearts conceded two quick goals at the beginning of the second half but Atuahene was still confident of victory and revealed the secret behind the comeback against Inter Allies.

“When the team was down by two goals to nothing, the team kept on believing themselves because they knew the history behind the match they were playing and they believed in the slogan of the club that we shall never say die until the bones are rotten.”

“And we knew the coach was going to win the match because when he was appointed to be the head coach of the club he said football is played with stamina and physic and we absolutely believed in his philosophy and it is now yielding results.”

Hearts have now won four matches out of five with 13 points but the supporter’s leader of the club says the club has not reached their peak.

“Despite this historic comeback against Inter Allies in many years the team has not lost its peak and when the team gets to their peak, you will see the real Hearts of Oak in this year’s Premier League.”

Hearts now play Wassaman SC in the FA cup round of 64 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
