Bayern Munich overcame a 2-0 deficit to book a spot in the Champions League quarterfinals with a 4-2 defeat of Juventus in extra time at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.
The fightback win in Germany followed the their 2-2 draw in Turin two weeks prior, and handed the Bundesliga leaders 6-4 passage on aggregate.
Juventus, who were without regulars Paulo Dybala, Claudio Marchisio and Giorgio Chiellini didn't waste time finding their opener in Germany. And it was star midfielder Pogba who put them ahead just five minutes in.
A misplay between Bayern's David Alaba and Manuel Neuer near the edge of the box allowed Stephan Lichsteiner to slip between them and force a quick Neuer save. But the ensuing rebound fell directly to the Frenchman, who slid his shot into an empty net from 18 yards out.
Juve looked to have doubled their advantage in the 22nd minute when a poor Neuer goal kick clearance hit Sami Khedira and found Alvaro Morata with only Neuer to beat. But his chip over the German would not stand as he was adjudged to have been offside.
However Juan Cuadrado had Massimiliano Allegri's men up 2-0 just six minutes later with the help of a remarkable 70-yard solo run from Alvaro Morata, who beat a number of Bayern defenders before laying off for the Colombian, who calmly beat Neuer from 10 yards after taking a pair of clever touches to elude a defender.
Bayern had their best chance of the half minutes before the whistle, but Thomas Muller's left-footed shot was well-saved by a sprawling Gianluigi Buffon before the Juventus defence cleared the danger.
And Juve nearly went three goals up a minute later. Pogba found space down the left before sliding a cross into an onrushing Cuadrado's path. But the winger's first-time blast from four yards out was saved by a hustling Neuer, who deflected the shot off the Juve man and back into play.
After the break, Morata continued to terrorize the Bayern defence with successive runs down left-hand side only to fire straight at Neuer in the 56th minute, and over the bar, after another fine solo run, a minute later.
Bayern's possession game took control soon after and the Bavarians were rewarded for their sustained pressure with a lifeline in the 73rd. Douglas Costa, who was lively throughout, curled a perfect cross onto the head of Robert Lewandowski, who steered in the in-swinger from four yards away.
Bayern threatened again moments later, but a mass of Juve defenders in front of goal blocked Costa's shot from the top of the box.
Muller then completed the comeback, sending the Allianz into raptures in second-half stoppage time after the German international rose and nodded a Kingsley Coman cross powerfully past Buffon and into the far corner, setting the stage extra time.
The Italians scratched out the first chance of the first extra period, but Lichsteiner's curled shot from a Mario Madzukic layoff was well-anticipated by a diving Neuer.
However it was substitute Thiago scored the clinching goal for the hosts. A poor Patrice Evra clearance found the Spain international at the top of the box, where a one-two with Muller opened a path for the former Barca man to slot low and hard into Buffon's far corner.
Ex-Juventus man Coman then finished off his former club just a minute a later, finishing off a one-man counter-attack with a curled left-footed shoot inside the far post, and helping Bayern reach the quarterfinals for the 15th time on the trot.
