Workers have been urged to be patient with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission as it resolves difficulties in the implementation of the single spine salary structure. Though many public sector workers were hoping to receive the new enhanced salaries this month, the Fair Wages Commission says apart from the Police Service, all others would have to wait a while longer. The commission explains that the mapping process to determine the single spine salaries of most workers is yet to be finalized. Secretary General of the TUC, Kofi Asamoah, told Joy News the reasons given by the Fair Wages Commission are genuine. “It is not easy to have everybody on board from the beginning of July 1. “We know as workers that most sections have their respective complaints about the job evaluation and that they would want the review to be done before they are placed on the scale. “As and when a particular institution’s one is cleared and placed on the single spine they should pay it and pay the retroactive differentials in two installments from the date that they will be placed on the spine,” he said.
