The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has agreed a four-year deal for Serbian coach Milovan Rajevac to stay on as Black Stars coach, a highly-placed source within the federation had told Ghanasoccernet.
The deal will be sealed before the Serbian manager’s contract runs out as the GFA seeks to retain the manager who steered the Black Stars to the quarter finals of the World Cup.
According to the source who pleaded anonymity, the deal will see Rajevac lead the Black Stars to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil with the mandate of helping the country to reach the semi finals of the tournament.
Even though both parties have agreed the deal, other small details will be discussed in the coming days as Rajevac is expected to return to post in two weeks’ time.
His first assignment since the World Cup will be in the middle of next month as the Black Stars will play South Africa in a friendly in Johannesburg.
He will monitor some new players for the Black Stars before heading off to Johannesburg for the friendly that will prepare his side for the African Cup of Nations qualifiers which start in September.
The GFA source reiterated that the federation is in no talks with any other coach.
A report by a section of the Ghanaian media claimed on Tuesday that two Serbian coaches Blagoje Paunovic and Mirosslav Dukic have expressed interest in the job.
But the GFA is not interested in talking to the two coaches as a deal has already been reached for the well-liked Rajevac to stay.
