Pompey insist Boateng won’t go cheap

Portsmouth insist they will not sell Kevin-Prince Boateng for cheap and accused his agent of attempting to bully them into making a quick sale. The sale of the midfielder, one of the stars of Ghana’s World Cup campaign, has become crucial for the cash-strapped club as they look to raise some badly needed funds. But rather than get the big offers for Boateng, Portsmouth administrator Andrew Andronikou says the club have been presented with some ridiculous offers from the player’s agent and insist they are now being shown any respect. “After the World Cup, Boateng’s agent turned up with a mandate from someone offering us £2.8-million. Yes, this was after the World Cup,” Andronikou said. “This is the same agent who had earlier told us to keep the £120 000 he claims we owed Boateng and in return let him move for nothing. This is the rubbish I have to deal with. “Boateng did excellently in the World Cup. If we do not get £5-6million there is something terribly wrong in the transfer market. The problem is there are people trying to rip us off. His agent has shown the club no respect whatsoever and the club is showing no respect back. “He has even told me we should let Boateng go on the cheap because it would allow us to get rid of him and be to our benefit. The truth is there was interest in him before the World Cup – there has been 100 per cent more interest since. “He is one of those talented midfielders that any club will make money from him just by having him there. We value him at £6m and will not let anybody get him on the cheap.” Source: Kickoff.com
