Ushering the festive season, Managers from Emirates Airline, Ghana celebrated Christmas with scores of young kids at the Children's ward of the Police Hospital, earlier this week.
For the second year running, the Dubai-based airline presented an assortment of toys, food, drinks, and a mouth-watering Christmas cake to the young ones, bringing cheer, smiles and laughter on their faces.
The Emirates Ghana team led by Area Manager, Abdullah Wahid Al Ahmed, spent most of Thursday morning helping the little patients and hospital staff decorate the Christmas tree. Later in the day, the airline team distributed attractive gifts as Christmas songs were played in the background.
The children took a special fancy to the toy planes that took to the skies as their attached balloons were filled with air.
Mr Wahid said: "We are pleased to spend time with these lovely children and believe that our gesture not only puts a smile on each face but also brings joy to their hearts. Aside from sharing gifts, it is important for everyone to feel loved at all times and especially so at this time of the year.”
The airline also presented the Children"s ward with bed linen and toiletries among other things.
The goodies were received by Marian Tetteh-Korboe, Chief Superintendent of the Children’s ward, Police Hospital. She thanked the Emirates workforce for their kind gesture. In her words: “Our patients have to spend Christmas here while their siblings and friends get to spend Christmas at home and in good health. It is encouraging to see corporate organisations like Emirates taking time off to bring some cheer to them.”
Dr Tetteh-Korboe added: “We also want to extend our appreciation to Emirates for all the kindness they have shown us each year at Christmas since 2004.”
She stated that the Children’s ward of the Police Hospital hoped that this gesture by Emirates will continue in the future.
Mr Wahid assured that Emirates is committed to Corporate Social Responsibility and donations like this will definitely not be a one-day wonder.
