The Ghana Football Association is yet to determine whether there was justifiable basis for Sulley Muntari to arrive in Ghana ahead of the Black Stars team.
The Inter Milan midfielder is reported to have arrived two clear days before his colleagues were given a heroic welcome at the Kotoka International Airport on Monday.
FA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi told Joy FM they have had to shelve discussions on the matter at least after the euphoria dissipates.
He said the FA will institute an investigation into the matter and will seek explanation from Muntari.
If the explanations are found not to be reasonable, the “rod of discipline,” Mr Nyantakyi said, will fall heavily on the player.
Sulley Muntari was nearly expelled by Coach Milovan Rajevac in South Africa for indiscipline, but was allowed to stay after his apology and interventions by some management members of the FA and senior players.
He bounced back with a screamer of a goal against Uruguay in the quarter final stage of the competition before being substituted in the second half.
The player is yet to give any official explanation for arriving earlier than the team.
