Ghana football federation president Kwesi Nyantakyi says warring factions across the continent have put aside their differences to support the only remaining African team at the World Cup.
Nyantakyi said Thursday that Ghana’s “sterling performance” at the tournament in South Africa in becoming only the third African team to reach the quarterfinals had united the continent.
Nyantakyi says “we know we are not alone. We are trying to pursue the African cause—we will do our best.”
Cameroon in 1990 and Senegal in 2002 both lost their quarterfinals.
