Ghana’s Chef de misson at this year’s Olympics Chris Essilfie has promised massive representation for team Ghana at the multi-sport event.
There are fears Ghana will not get more athletes for the games with only one athlete sure of a place with seven months to go.
But Mr Essilfie tells Joy Sports sevem months is enough time to get more athletes qualify for the games.
“Identifying athletes is a science not humanities. There is a structured approach to look at how athletes are going to qualify,” he told Joy Sports
“Various federations have various competitions and there is a cut off points where athletes will qualify.”
“The last cut off point is in athletics somewhere in June. So till we get to June, we can’t say only athlete has qualified.”
“It is not a straight line graph to say we have seven months to go so we are expecting thirty to qualify,” Essilfie added
“If we had money to go some countries, we would have had more but the fact we have one now has nothing to do with whether twenty or so will be in Rio.”
“Between now and June we would have more to qualify.”
