The Kotoka International Airport is to have a third boarding gate, courtesy United Air, the latest airline to start operations in Ghana. This should greatly ease the pressure on the two existing gates especially with the anticipated increase in passenger numbers as the economy expands as a result of the oil find. The Kotoka International Airport is already undergoing a face lift involving among others the expansion of the terminal room and a new fire station but Chief Executive of the Ghana Airport Company Doreen Owusu Fianko says there is more to be done. She is urging other airlines to emulate the example of United Air. “The pre-financing of the third boarding gate even before their first flight touches down in Accra is not only an indication of their determination to take the market by storm, but also their willingness to partner with us to make our airport the best in West Africa,” she said Two other airlines, Turkish and Brussels Air are also set to start operations by the end of next month, bringing to 29 the number of airlines flying from Ghana.
