Customers of the Ghana Water Company in the Agona Swedru District are reported to be indebted to the company to tune of 3 billion cedis.
Mr Thomas Appiah, Commercial Manager of the Company, who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency on Thursday at Swedru, said the company would from this month prosecute defaulters as part of measures to retrieve the revenue.
Already a number of lines have been disconnected and Mr Appiah has appealed to customers to endeavour to settle their bills before they were dragged to court.
He also attributed the intermittent water shortage in the area to lack of power supply by the Electricity Company of Ghana and asked customers of the Water Company to exercise restraint.
