Milovan Rajevac has shelved the celebrations that greeted the opening day World Cup win in the Ghana camp, turning the focus on the crucial game against Australia on Saturday in Rustenburg.
Ghana got off to a flyer, beating Serbia 1-0 in Group D, a win which has been celebrated well enough on the continent with four other sides from Africa having failed to secure victories at the World Cup.
But, for Rajevac, though admitting a new-found confidence, he is quick to suggest three points is not enough to reach the knockout phase.
The Black Stars reached the second round on their debut four years ago and a win over the Socceroos, who crushed to a 4-0 opening defeat at the hands of Germany, would certainly put Ghana closer to reaching the next stage depending on how the other group results go.
“That (Serbia game) was just the first game. It was important to get all the three points but we are not finished yet. There are six points to play for. And we must now look at the next challenge is more difficult than the first,” he told www.ghanafa.org.
“The next match is against Australia and we would do what we have to do.”
"The most important thing after the win is to stay grounded, show respect, concentrate and prepare well for the next match.
"We have to be psychologically prepared and ready," Rajevac added.
Rajevac is quick to remind his players that the Socceroos’ defeat to Germany would mean nothing when both sides meet at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
“Germany played well and they are the favourites from our group. They played an excellent match. But Australia had problems. They lost one man and it was a different situation for them.
“They would come out fighting to make amends and that is expected. They are not out of contention.
“But I expect Ghana to show the same desire against them,” the Ghana coach said about the up coming game.
