The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) will be leading a delegation from the government and private sector on an Investment Promotion Mission to Turkey and the Middle East- Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Iran from 17th June to 2nd July, 2010 to sensitize businesses on the investment potential of Ghana. The objective of the mission is to promote investment opportunities in Ghana as a whole and in the under listed priority sectors:
  • Oil and Gas services (including Petrochemicals)
  • Infrastructure
  • Real Estate Development
  • Energy
  • Manufacturing
  • Agric & Agro- processing
  • Information and Communication Technology (lCT)
  • Financial Services
  • Tourism
The delegation will follow-up on several enquires and leads from a number of sovereign wealth funds and individual investors in these regions on investment opportunities in Ghana. Led by Mr. George Aboagye, CEO of GIPC, the delegation will hold business seminars to discuss Ghana's potential and business opportunities, as well as investment regulations and procedures. This will also provide the avenue for dedicated one-on-one meetings to further explore specific opportunities. Other members of the delegation include the Chief Executive Officers of the Ghana Free Zones Board and Ghana Export Promotion Council, Members of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Trade, Industry and Tourism, representatives from the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry(GNCCI), private sector operators and the media. In Iran the delegation will also discuss with the authorities the modalities for accessing the credit facility of US$ 70 million that was secured by the Ghana Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GNCCI) during their successful mission to Iran. The mission was led by Mr. Seth Adjei-Baah, Member of Parliament and Vice-President of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GNCCI). In December 2009, the Government of Ghana through the GIPC and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs successfully negotiated and initialled a Bilateral Investment Treaty with the Islamic Republic ofIran.
