The Crusading Guide’s ace investigative reporter, Anas Aremeyaw Anas has won the 2006 Excellence in International Journalism Award.
Anas, who is the Deputy Editor of the Weekend Crusading Guide, will be honoured at Sherbrooke, Canada, alongside GTV’s Clare Banoeng-Yakubu, who had a special mention on the Women’s Issues Category of the awards.
The award, which is under the auspices of the Union of the Catholic Press (UCIP), would also reward some international journalists, including USA’s James Thavis, Algeria’s Nassima Qulebsir, Brazil’s Graziela Cruz, France’s Emmanuel Pellat, Hong Kong’s Francis Wong, India’s Sonichan P. Josep, Italy’s Carmine Curci and Kenya’s Gregory Akall among others.
The awards will be presented between the 3rd and the 10th of June, 2007 at the UCIP World Congress.
Peter Atiemo, the News Editor of the Crusading Guide, will accompany the reporter to receive the award in Canada. Being the Ghana Journalists Association Investigative Journalist of the Year, Anas has been invited to the Global Conference on Investigative Journalism expected to take place in Toronto, Canada from May 23rd – 28th 2007.
The conference, which is being organized by the Canadian Association of Journalists (CAJ) and the Global Investigative Journalists Network (GIJN), will bring together journalists from over 30 countries to discuss and debate issues of national and international importance.
Anas will then continue to the United States of America to attend the Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) conference in Phoenix, Arizona where he will learn to further sharpen his skills in investigative journalism.
