Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola says he will announce whether he will sign a new contract at the club or leave in the summer as early as next week.
Guardiola’s future is one of the big unanswered questions in European football with his current deal with Bayern Munich expiring at the end of what will be his third season with the club. Bayern had previously spoken of their confidence he will sign a new contract, although that stance did soften amid suggestions a pre-contract had been agreed with Manchester City.
City are reported to be very hopeful of landing Guardiola if indeed he does decide to leave Bayern, although Chelsea and Manchester United have also been linked with the man who won 14 trophies in four seasons at Barcelona. Guardiola says all will be clear next week.
"Tonight I have no answer,” he said after Bayern’s DFP Pokal victory over Darmstadt on Tuesday night. “Next week you will know the answer. Next week there will be clarity.”
