Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has stated Christian Atsu would not be rushed into first team action after returning from injury.
The 23-year-old who suffered injury while on international duty with the Black Stars returned to the club after undergoing treatment at Chelsea.
The winger joined the Cherries on loan from Chelsea this season but is yet to feature in the Premier League.
His return to Bournemouth has excited many within the Cherries ranks as the team has been hit by several injuries but manager Eddie Howe believes Atsu needs to build his fitness before he can compete for a place.
"Atsu is back but not physically fit enough to play," Howe stated.
“Almost going to have to go through a second pre-season in order to get himself in a position where he can compete for a place in the team."
Thus, Atsu is virtually ruled out of Bournemouth’s home tie against Manchester United this weekend.
