League champions Ashantigold are set to be one of the richest clubs in the country after sealing a deal with Don Simon Multifrutas.
This deal will be the second for the Obuasi side after sealing a deal with adhesive tiles manufacturing firm Permafix.
The one year deal will see Ashantigold receiving Don Simon products as well as an undisclosed amount of cash.
In return, the Obuasi side will give the Spanish company exposure during their home matches on their pitch panels during matches shown by continental broadcasters SuperSport.
At a brief press conference to seal the deal, finance director of Permafix, Marco Polo, who brokered the deal explained what paved the way for the sponsorship
"We were all ordering some water, juice and Eric Opoku brought a Don Simon Multifrutas as his main lunch.”
"I asked him whether he didn’t like Fufu and he told me he likes Fufu but most of the times he takes his energy and vitamins from Don Simon.”
"When I heard that, it sounded to me like an advert for Don Simon so I took a picture of Eric holding the Don Simon juice and sent it straight to the owner of the company.
"The moment the picture went, J.Garcia Carrion, the owner loved the idea that we are involved to help AshantiGold."
This deal will come in handy for Ashantigold as they prepare to participate in next year’s CAF Champions League.
