Louis Van Gaal’s Bayern Munich all but secured their 22nd league title with a 3-1 win over Bochum, thanks to a hat trick from Thomas Muller, in the first of Saturday’s double-header of LIVE matches on Multi-TV. Bayern rudely showed Lyon the Champions League exit on Wednesday and ruthlessly dispatched Bochum in a similar fashion. Muller, like Olic on Tuesday, struck thrice in the 18th, 20th and 69th minute. A 2-0 defeat for 2nd place Schalke at the hands of Werder Bremen means that Shalke will need Bayern to lose and make up a difference of 17 goals next week in order to win the title-a highly improbable scenario. Saturday’s second match was between Parma and a Roma side hoping to overtake Jose Mourinho’s Inter-Milan at the league summit with a victory. Goals from Captain Francesco Totti and Rodrigo Taddei ensured that for 24 hours at least, the Giallorossi would top the Serie A. Davide Lanzafame scored for Parma in the 81st minute, setting up a frenetic end to the match, which Roma held on to win. Roma now find themselves in the almost ludicrous position of having to lend support to bitter rivals Lazio who play Inter later on Sunday. La Liga got Sunday’s LIVE football action programme on Joy Sports and Adom TV underway at exactly 3pm. Sevilla FC needed a win badly against Atletico Madrid, to bolster their hopes of returning to the Champion League next season. A home 3-1 win against the Europa League semi-finalist, consolidated 4th place for the Andalusians and with it hopes of Champion’s League football next season. A 5th minute strike from Brazilian Luis Fabiano coupled with a pair of first-half penalties from Alvaro Negredo ensured victory and moved Sevilla into fourth temporarily, depending on the outcome of Mallorca’s match versus Athletic Bilbao, who play later. The entertaining French Ligue 1 brought the curtain down on yet another weekend of Fantastic ‘4’ soccer, shown exclusively on Multi-TV. Defending Ligue 1 Champions Bordeaux came up against Toulouse, hoping to end their wretched run of form, which had seen them win just one of their last six games in all competitions. Lady Luck finally smiled on Les Girondins as Michael Ciani’s 17th minute strike, restored pride for Laurent Blanc’s men and propelled them into contention for a Champions League slot. Fantastic ‘4’action resumes next Saturday on Joy Sports and Adom TV on Multi-TV. A recap of John Paintsill’s Fulham and Atletico Madrid’s incredible journey to the Europa league final will be aired on Joy Sports on Monday, 3rd May, starting at 9am. Joseph K.b.
