The Premier League Board has disclosed that there will be no monetary reward for the winner of this season’s Ghana Premier League.
The PLB was expecting to announce the prize money for this season’s champions but says there will be no monetary benefit.
“We are playing to come up with a car for the champions. That will be something physical for everyone to see and the donor will get the mileage for the publicity when it’s being used,” PLB Chairman Welbeck Abra-Appiah said.
“The first and second runners up may get cash prize but the ultimate will not get that but a car.”
Last season’s Hearts of Oak earned 20,000 Ghana cedis (US$ 10,600) for winning the League.
AshantiGold and Hearts of Oak are neck and neck for this year’s title with debutants Aduana Stars also in the race.
