Health Insurance workers in the Central region have come together to form a Health Insurance Workers Association.
It has Mr. Samuel Oppong-Nkansah, Assin North District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme Manager as its chairman, with Mr. Frank Mensah, as vice chairman.
Miss Sarah Tawiah was elected Secretary, Mr. Eric K. Taylor, Assistant Secretary, Mr. Kojo Sekyere, Organizing Secretary, Mrs. Gladys Obuddey, Treasurer, and Mr. Samuel Appah, Financial Secretary.
The objectives of the association was to seek the general well-being of its members and also ensure that workers of various Mutual Health Insurance Schemes in the Central region put up credible performance that would commensurate with their quest for better working conditions from their employers.
The Chairman of the Association, Mr. Oppong-Nkansah, called for mutual understanding, co-operation, and commitment from members to facilitate the smooth administration of the association.
Mr. Nkansah urged members not to hesitate to feed the executives with useful ideas and suggestion that would promote the objectives of the association.
He promised to work in close collaboration with other sister associations in the regions for mutual benefit of members of the association.
He drew the attention of scheme workers on the vital role the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) seeks to play in the transformation of the country's health delivery system.
He asked NHIS employees in the region to strive hard to eschew acts that would carve a bad image for the National Insurance Council, their respective Schemes and the association.
They should also endeavour to establish rapport with the people during the course of their official duties in order to win the trust and confidence of the citizenry to enhance the growth of the NHIS.
