Ghana and Inter midfielder Sulley Muntari has pleaded for understanding and patience for youngster Mario Balotelli who is the verge of been kicked out of the Italian side.
Balotelli angered fans, team-mates and officials following Tuesday’s 3-1 home success against the European champions by flinging his shirt to the ground after the final whistle.
Ballotelli was not available for Friday's training ahead of Saturday’s 3-1 win over Atlanta, with reports rife that he has been sent home.
This looks to have sealed his fate but Muntari who shares a special relationship with Balotelli has asked for forgiveness to the player who was born to Ghanaian parents.
Muntari, whose mother was a trader in the same market with Balotelli’s biological mother at the Konongo market in the late 80s, says the youngster is learning.
“I wouldn’t know what to say about Mario. He is our teammate, he apologised and is still very young,” Muntari said.
“When you make mistakes, you learn, the fans must understand that.
“Mario is really a good kid and we all care about him. He’s such a strong player, it’s just that some of his attitudes are not good.
“He is still so young and needs time to mature. If we give him time, he’ll become a great player. Will he grow up at Inter? Of course, because he has a contract. I hope he remains.”
Balotelli went to Brescia to watch their game against Reggina as a friend of his plays for his home town club.
