Kumasi based King Faisal on Sunday pipped New Edubiase FC 1-0 in the 27th Week Glo Premier League match played at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
Emmanuel Odoi scored the only goal of the match in the 26th minute against the run of play with a low grounder which slipped through the hands of keeper Kwaku Ofori in goal for New Edubiase.
New Edubiase kicked off in an almost empty stadium and put severe pressure on Faisal as they shot from all angles but the strikers could not penetrate through the iron clad defence of Faisal.
The visitors should have levelled up four minutes after the goal but Seidu Bansa messed up with the opportunity when he was face to face with only the keeper to beat after he received a close pass from skipper Francis Bossman from a goalmouth melee.
Coach Mohammed Gargo quickly brought on Eric Fordjour for Seidu Bansa in the 32nd minute.
With the heat still on Faisal who had recoiled into their shell after the goal, New Edubiase came close to equalizing in the 34th minute but skipper Francis Bossman's shot hit the posts and bounced into play.
New Edubiase dominated the game during the second session but luck eluded them of finding the net.
AS they played the greater part of the game in Faisal's half with their inter-positional passes, a shot from Bossman again hit the post after the goalkeeper had failed to make a first time save in the 65th minute.
