The former First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Lionel Van Lare Dosoo, has been appointed the board chair of Ecobank Ghana Limited.
His appointment takes effect from April 24. This was announced to shareholders at the bank’s Annual General Meeting on Friday.
Mr. Dorsoo was appointed to the board as a non-executive director on February 16.
He takes over from Tei Mensah Mante who has been board chair for the past four years.
Mr Mensah Mante speaking to Joy Business about his tenure indicated that he has done his best to help the bank become a successful public company and he described his successor as an excellent replacement.
The bank during the year under review posted a GH¢54 million profit after tax representing a 60.3 per cent increase.
This was largely driven by strong growth in interest income, fees and commissions.
The bank declared a dividend of GHp18 per share.
