The Ghana Football Association has warned that by next year any Ghanaian coach who does not have a valid coaching license will not be allowed to coach any registered football club in the country.
Coach Oti Akenteng, Technical Director of the GFA, said the move would enable the FA to ensure classifications and also ward off miscreants who drag the coaching profession into disrepute.
He was speaking to the GNA Sports in Sunyani on Monday after the GFA had organized a one-day coaching clinic for some selected coaches drawn from the Brong-Ahafo Region.
Coach Akenteng was concerned that some Ghanaian coaches found it difficult to improve the physical fitness of their footballers and to make them match fit at all times.
He was supported by Coach Anthony Adusei of the Black Queens to take the 58 coaches at the clinic through the physical development of a footballer and the criteria of coaching in Ghana.
The Technical Director noted that Ghana has chalked significant achievements in both local and international football, underscoring the need to streamline the coaching profession to promote the growth and development of the sport.
He disclosed that the third CAF coaching license C course has been scheduled to take place in Ghana from May 10 to May 24 this year at Prampram in the Greater Accra Region.
He said coaching instructors, including Ben Coffie and Adusei, would be engaged as course directors whilst he (Akenteng) serves as the course coordinator.
Coach Akenteng said CAF has also engaged and would send a Dr Laloko, an external examiner from Nigeria to supervise both the theoretical and practical aspects of the course.
