The Nsuta Traditional Council has banned the serving of food and drinks by bereaved families to entertain guests and sympathizers during the seven day celebration of a dead relative.
Additionally, no bereaved family would be allowed to engage the services of a live band or play music.
Those who flout the directive would pay a fine of not less than GHc500.00
Nana Adu-Agyei Bonsafo III, Omanhene of the area, who announced the directive at a durbar to raise funds in support of development, said it was meant to cut down the cost of funerals.
He said the week's celebration of a dead person should be marked by a short meeting of the family to plan the funeral.
The Omanhene warned that citizens who do not visit home regularly would not be buried in the traditional area when they die.
