Kingston must play for Ghana place

Hearts of Scotland boss Jim Jefferies has told Laryea Kingston to play his way into the Ghana squad for the 2010 world cup by being outstanding for his club side. Jefferies has given Kingston a new lease of life at the club after taking over from Laszlo Csaba and has challenged the midfielder to use his desire to play at the World Cup as an incentive for the rest of the season. Kingston missed the 2006 World Cup after picking up a suspension from the 2006 Nations Cup that meant he was ineligible for Ghana's first three games at the tournament. He is keen to play at the upcoming one in South Africa but faces a fight to get into a squad brimming with equal levels of experience and promising talents. But Jefferies feels Kingston can make his case by simply being brilliant for Hearts. "He's getting there but he can't just do it for a few games, he's got to do it consistently. And if he can do that he'll have a chance of forcing his way into Ghana's plans for the World Cup so it's a big incentive for him. "He has an incentive to show he can do a job for Hearts first and foremost. That's what is most important to me. "If he does well and the rewards for that is getting into the Ghana squad then everyone is happy,” he said. Kingston will have the chance to impress Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac at first hand when the Serbian travels to Scotland in in the middle of April. Source: Kickoff.com
