Manchester City travel to Spain to take on Sevilla in the Champions League on Tuesday knowing a win will put them on the brink of qualification from the group stage.
Manuel Pellegrini's side have won two of their first three games, including a dramatic late victory over Sevilla in the reverse fixture, and another victory would open up a six point gap to their opponents with just two games remaining.
However, defeat to Unai Emery's side would leave City and Sevilla level on
Indeed, Emery believes this game could go a long way to determining the fate of both sides in this year's competition.
"This could be decisive in terms of what happens to us in the competition. If we want to get through to the next phase we have to be brave tomorrow and give our best," he said.
"We need to play well, be solid. We know they are going to pose a great threat to us. They are a team that are very well drilled.
"We have to work hard, defend well and be very solid at the back. That is what is going to help us progress in this tournament and this season in general."
Kevin De Bruyne was the match winner in the game at the Etihad - his stoppage time strike handing the hosts a 2-1 win.
Since then Sevilla have had mixed fortunes domestically, thrashing Getafe 5-0 but slipping to a 2-1 defeat at Villarreal, to leave them 11th in the La Liga table.
Group A's two unbeaten sides will once again clash in the Champions League on Tuesday, with Real Madrid welcoming Paris Saint-Germain to the Bernabeu in a glamour tie.
The two European giants played out a goalless draw in the reverse group match in Paris on October 21, but with top spot in the section on offer, this is a huge game in the Spanish capital.
Real Madrid have been without a number of key players for a large part of the season and when taking their problems into account, it has been a very impressive start for head coach Rafael Benitez, who has still not been beaten in any competition this season.
Los Blancos have won all three home group games in their last two Champions League campaigns campaigns – scoring 10 goals each time.
While Real Madrid are going nicely in their domestic league this season, PSG are blowing away the competition in theirs. After 12 games of the Ligue 1 campaign, Laurent Blanc's side sit top on 32 points – 11 clear of second-place Lyon.
With league matters fairly straight-forward at the moment, more concentration can be placed on cracking the Champions League. Like Real, PSG won their first two games in Group A, first beating Malmo before winning 3-0 at Shakhtar.
The draw with Los Blancos would have been seen as a disappointing result such was the away side's injury problems, but it ensured that they remained level on seven points.
Tuesday provides the perfect chance to take control of the section and sent out a statement in the process. PSG are currently in their eighth group-stage campaign, but they have gone out in the quarter-finals in each of the last three seasons.
In fact, the French champions have not gone beyond the last-eight stage of the European Cup since the 1994-95 season. The club's incredible investment was with a view to claiming this famous competition and they are expected to challenge in this campaign.
PSG's record in Spain is not too strong, however, losing on five of their 11 visits. They were also knocked out by Barcelona in the quarter-finals last season, which included a 2-0 loss in Spain. T
heir last success away to La Liga opposition came in the 2012-13 campaign when Ezequiel Lavezzi and Javier Pastore both netted in a 2-1 win against Valencia in the round of 16.
Manchester United will be looking to end a run of three games without a goal when they welcome CSKA Moscow to Old Trafford on Tuesday.
United have failed to hit the back of the net in more than five hours of football, with Anthony Martial's equaliser in Moscow in the reverse fixture their last goal in all competitions.
Louis van Gaal will look to avoid going a fourth game without goal, a feat last achieved by United during a barren spell between October and November 1992.
On top of that, Tuesday's game has taken on added incentive for the Reds in terms of their Champions League campaign. Defeat to CSKA would see the Russians leapfrog them in Group B and, with just two games remaining, which could seriously hinder their chances of reaching the knock-out phase.
United have never beaten a team from Russia at Old Trafford, with their last encounter against one producing a 3-3 draw back in November 2009.
Antonio Valencia and James Wilson, who were left out at Selhurst Park due to injury, also missed the session at Carrington on Monday, while Phil Jones and Memphis Depay trained separately from the rest of the squad.
It means 17-year-old centre-back Axel Tuanzebe could be named in Van Gaal's matchday squad, following his inclusion at Palace on Saturday.
Juventus travel to Germany to face Borussia Monchengladbach on Tuesday knowing that if results go their way they will book a Champions League last 16 place with two games to spare.
The defending Serie A champions, last season's beaten finalists, have clinched seven points out of a possible nine to lead Group D.
Juve, who won 2-1 at Manchester City before beating Sevilla 2-0, were held to a goalless draw by Gladbach a fortnight ago.
A victory on Tuesday coupled with a Sevilla defeat at home to Manchester City in the other pool game would see Juve seal a spot in the next round.
Gladbach need a victory to revive any hopes of reaching the knockout round.
The draw at Juve was their first point in the group stages and left Gladbach at the foot of the standings, six points adrift of Tuesday's rivals.
The German team had a tough start to their Bundesliga campaign, too, losing their opening five league games.
However, under caretaker coach Andre Schubert, they have hit back with six straight wins in the Bundesliga and Saturday's 4-1 triumph at Hertha Berlin lifted Gladbach to fifth place - 13 points adrift of pacesetters Bayern Munich.
The visitors will be bolstered by the return of defender Giorgio Chiellini from suspension while Martin Caceres, Roberto Pereyra and Stephan Lichtsteiner are all sidelined through injury.
Gladbach will not be at full strength at the Borussia-Park with Andre Hahn, Nico Schulz, Martin Stranzl and Patrick Herrmann, all out injured.
