A board member of Asante Kotoko Kweku Amponsah says justice has been served after an appeals committee ruling restored points docked from the accumulated points of the Porcupine Warriors.
Kotoko were deducted six points for fielding an unqualified player in their premier league game with Accra Hearts of Oak which they won 2-1 in September.
The Kumasi-based side appealed against the decision of the Disciplinary Committee which ruled that the Elite Clubs Competition matches were not official matches and therefore Obed Owusu who Hearts protested was unqualified to play in their Premier league game could not have served his suspension by sitting out in the Kotoko’s game against Dunkwa United.
The former champions had six of their points deducted with Hearts gaining 3 goals and 3 points.
But after a successful appeal the Porcupine Warriors have been given their points.
“We are very happy with the Appeal Committee’s ruling though we knew the points will be given to us,” said Kweku Amponsah
“Now we have our points and that is all we were asking for, Hearts can do whatever they want to do, for us we don’t care.
“The law is the law not matter what you do, the Elite Cup has come to stay so i don’t know what they will do to take the points back. I dare them to go for review and i’m sure we will win there as well.”
Kotoko will now move to 2nd with 48 points while Hearts drop to 13th with 40 points but avoids relegation though.
