The Banquet Hall in Accra is ready to host the 2009 Glo-CAF Awards, an event that rewards sports personalities under the year under review.
On Thursday, March 11, awards will be bestowed as the Ghanaian capital - Accra, plays host to the annual awards for the second time after 2007.
And with the stage set, the continent and the rest of the world would in the coming hours know the new king of African football for the Year 2009.
Ghana’s Michael Essien, Didier Drogba of Cote d’Ivoire and Cameroonian Samuel Eto’o Fils are the three final shortlisted players for the African Footballer of the Year gong.
“We are on course and will put up an event that will meet up the expectation of the guests. African should expect a great show as we seek to celebrate African football,” said Bobby Scott, Chief Executive of True Colours Events, the organizing firm for the awards.
The event, which is been sponsored for the fifth time by cellular company Globacom seeks to reward distinguished football personalities for their performance during the year under review.
