Black Stars management committee chairman George Afriyie says he has been thrilled with the work rate of the new call ups for the international friendly with Canada in the United States of America.
Four new players – US based Lloyd Ekow Sam and Kwadwo Poku, Phil Ofosu-Ayeh and former Kumasi Asante Kotoko defender Gideon Baah – are in Avram Grant’s 19-man squad for the game.
The inclusion of the four is believed to have been caused by the absence of regulars like skipper Asamoah Gyan, Andre Ayew and Christian Atsu who are all suffering from various degrees of injuries.
Afriyie has no doubts the fringe players have the quality to win against the North America side.
“We have missed some of our key players to injuries and visa issues but the new call ups have fit in perfectly and are doing very well,” he said
“I have always believed that Ghana we are blessed with lots of talent and with the new players, from what they have been able to demonstrate for the few days we have been here is a true manifestation that when given the chance to any Ghanaian player he will definitely excel.
“It is another thing training and also playing in a match but if what I have seen is anything to go by then I have no doubt that these boys are going to do very well in the game.”
