The Eastern Region Branch of the Convention People’s Party is appealing to members not to join the new political party being formed using the Nkrumaist ideology as a springboard.
Fearing that such a move could further dent the fortunes of the CPP, the party is appealing for support from the rank and file in the entire 28 constituencies in the region in order to expose what it calls “saboteurs” who might wish to convince them to join the new party.
In a statement signed by the Regional Chairman of the party, Nana Owusu Sekyere and copied to the media at Koforidua on Friday, he challenged the members of the party to be on “red alert” and remain solidly behind the CPP.
He said all true Nkrumaists must belong to the CPP fold adding, “those who falsely claim to be Nkrumaists and are thinking that they can bring about the so-called unity by forming another Nkrumaist party are bankrupt and will only be hitting their heads against the wall”.
