Zain Ghana, in collaboration with advertising firm INSTINCT, is rolling out a project to create a potential thousand jobs for people in deprived communities.
Dubbed TRIKADEMIKS, the project uses tricycles to transport children to school each day.
It aims at boosting the academic outlook of school children in the municipality.
When fully rolled out, the TRIKADEMIKS project is expected to provide about 1,200 jobs and to serve as a convenient transport system for about 7,200 children countrywide in the next five years.
Currently, the project is being rolled out in the Hohoe district and transports 60 sixty children to school, thereby, supporting the economy by providing employment for members of the community who ride the tricycles. They also earn additional income while selling some Zain products.
Each tricycle rider has been trained in work ethics, technical and driving skills as well as road safety measures.
Corporate Communications and External Affairs Manager, Carmen Bruce-Annan stated in a press statement that “we take our commitment to the development of the country as seriously as our operations so a project like this which effectively combines both aspects of our business was perfect for us”.
