The Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has denied tension between management and workers over a letter said to have been sent to the board by the workers’ union. The union has catalogued seven complaints in the letter, including the auctioning of vital spare parts for the refinery locked up at the ports because TOR has failed to clear in good time. The union also has issues with the current arrangement where TOR is just refining crude oil for the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation. Managing Director Dr. Kwame Ampofo say although the workers have a case there is no cause for alarm. “The refinery is working and life is going on normally. Those who think there is chaos here, it isn’t like that,” Dr Ampofo said. He said the workers are raising concerns for fear of losing their jobs, adding: “We must understand that TOR is in very difficult times right now,” he added. The Managing Director indicated that the refinery is working on modalities to ensure it makes more profit to enable it pay good dividends to government. Source: Joy Business/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
