The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) and organised labour, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to signify a major step in the road map towards the implementation of the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS).
A statement issued in Accra on Thursday by the FWSC said the MOU was signed at the end of a highly successful stakeholders' forum held between the Commission and organised labour referred to as social partners of government.
It said "the MOU outlined the framework and guidelines for negotiating the base pay and relativities critical to the implementation of the SSSS".
The MOU was signed on behalf of government by Mr George Smith-Graham, Chief Executive of FWSC while Mr Kofi Asamoah, Secretary General of Ghana Trades Union Congress (GTUC) signed on behalf of organised labour and associations.
They agreed to establish a Public Services Joint Standing Negotiating Committee (PSJSNC) made up of representatives from government to be represented by the FWSC and the organized labour and associations to negotiate and determine the base pay and relativities of the SSSS.
