Bagged drinking water producers are proposing GHp7 as the new price for a sachet of water.
The new price is to reflect the controversial 20 per cent ad valorem tax which takes effect from March this year.
This was one of the conclusions reached at a meeting of bottled and sachet producers in Accra Thursday.
Joy Business learnt from the meeting that the producers agreed to go ahead and sell their products at the new price unless the government’s technical committee which is said to be meeting over the tax concludes otherwise.
Implementation of the tax has become doubtful after the Chairman of Parliament’s Select Committee on Finance said it had not approved taxes on sachet water.
