Kotoko set for legal action in points deduction saga

Kotoko supporters could seek a court order to restrain the Premier League Board (PLB)  from going ahead with the last round of matches in the 2014/15 First Capital Plus Premier League.

This, according to the supporters has become necessary because the outcome of Kotoko’s appeal at the Appeals Committee of the GFA could have serious implications on positions of teams on the league table. And that's why they believe that the appeal must be heard before the weekend’s matches are played.

Three Kotoko supporters leading this charge made their intent known after visiting the club’s secretariat.

"We won’t sit down for Kotoko to be intimidated by people who think they can interpret laws anyhow to disadvantage the club because their pet club risk being relegated," they said in a statement.

“The GFA can't take Kotoko for granted. We won't allow anybody at the GFA to toy with the hearts of millions of Kotoko supporters. They shouldn't assume that they can push Kotoko anywhere on the league table because of Hearts' predicament."

"We will fight for the six points because the GFA itself knows that, the ruling by the Disciplinary Committee doesn't make any sense. We are serving this notice early so that, it wouldn’t be a last minute action,” he added.

A member of Asante Kotoko's Communications Team, Jerome Otchere, has also confirmed Asempa FM's Ultimate Sports Show that they are on the way of going to court for the last round of matches to be postponed so it can pave way for the appeals committee to determine Kotoko`s fate.

"It looks like the board might be heading to court, from the understanding i got from the  PRO of the club, Kweku Ahenkorah, and I am very sure the board chairman with all the experience he has, he may want to speak to the three supporters so that they join in because am not sure the supporters will go to court demanding almost the same thing the board is demanding," he said.

The Board of Directors of Kotoko last Saturday after an emergency meeting issued a statement urging the Appeals Committee to come out on the case before the weekend’s matches are played.

The Board further warned that, Kotoko would take all necessary action to protect the sanctity of the league as well as the interest of all clubs.
