Queens Supporters Association, an association of Queenmothers resident in Accra on Wednesday pledged its continual support for the tourism industry.
The queenmothers led by Nana Serwaa Bonsu called on Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, Minister of Tourism and Diasporan Relations, to inform him of efforts they were making to develop tourism in their respective communities.
Nana Bonsu said the association made up of about 50 members have recognized that tourism was a beacon of hope for the country hence a decision to involve their communities in tourism activities.
She said they would encourage women in their various communities to be engaged in small and medium enterprises, for instance encouraging them to prepare traditional dishes for sale at tourists' sites to enable tourists to sample Ghanaian dishes.
Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey expressed gratitude to the group and said it was important that government, district assemblies and traditional authorities cooperated in the development of tourism.
