Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has labelled Ghana’s slim victory over Congo as a lucky one.
The Stars had to rely on an injury time strike from Aston Villa forward Jordan Ayew to hand them victory in an international friendly against Congo in Brazzaville.
Ghana were cruising with a two goal lead at half time before being pegged back in the second with two goals from the Congolese to restore parity.
Gyan told Joy Sports exclusively after the game Ghana rode on luck
“It was a good game. We dominated the first half but they came back in the second half,” Gyan told Joy Sports.
“They made some changes, I saw some great talents from the Congolese side. They changed the game, they turned everything altogether.”
“They came back but with our character we showed today, I think we were a bit lucky to carry the day.”
Asamoah Gyan was also of the view the Congolese match provided the much needed test for the Black Stars ahead of their qualifier against Rwanda in Kigali.
“I think the match provided us the test we need because they came back very strongly, they were dominating the game in the second half and then we came back to grab the third goal.”
“The most important thing was the experience.”
Ghana play Rwanda on Saturday in the 2017 African Cup of Nations Qualifier in a group which also comprises of Mozambique and Mauritius.
