Richard Kingson is backing the Black Stars to rise from the brink of elimination and clinch a quarterfinal place at the Nations Cup even though he admits their work has been made a lot more difficult by the absence of Michael Essien.
The Wigan goalkeeper will captain Ghana after Essien picked up a knee injury that prematurely ended his tournament.
“We will miss Essien because he is a very important player for us but I hope whoever the coach picks will be up to the job,” Kingson said.
“We have to play as a team and hopefully we will win as a team.”
Ghana need all the three points to guarantee a last eight place with pressure mounting on Stars and their coach Milovan Rajevac.
Defender Eric Addo is the latest casualty for the Serbian and is likely to miss the game in Luanda with suspected malaria.
