Former World Champion Joshua Clottey’s return to world fame could come faster than expected and against no less a boxer than undisputed Welterweight king Manny Pacquiao on March 13 in Las Vegas.
Talks have begun between both camps for Clottey to get a third shot at the WBO Welterweight title which he failed to snatch from Antinio Magarito in December 2006 and Miguel Cotto in June 2009.
Cotto lost the title to Pacquiao, in November last year.
However, already, comments on most boxing websites point to a straight win for Pacquiao but Clottey sees this as the opportunity to rule the Welterweight division.
The Ghanaian boxer says he is unfazed by the poor previews he is receiving in some media and would work to prove that he is capable of grabbing the title.
“I am going to surprise the whole world,” he said.
Clottey describes his opponent as his “favourite” and “the best fighter out there.”
“I just want to win that title,” he added.
