Joy Sports Transfer Daily: Friday’s top 21 stories

In today's edition...

GODIN REJECTS MAN CITY

There's something about Spain-based defenders moving to Manchester today.

There are reports that Diego Godin has snubbed a move to solve Man City's defensive crisis and will instead pen a new deal with Atletico Madrid.Reports suggests that City had been willing to trigger the 29-year-old's €40m release clause and offer him a €6.5m-a-year contract, although the Uruguay international will reportedly opt to stay at the Calderon. Both the club and the player are appreciative of each other's respective attempts to prolong their relationship, and Godin will sign a new deal in the coming days. That's how you make it work, people!

BUT DE BRUYNE GIVES BIGGEST HINT HE IS OFF TO CITY

Kevin De Bruyne has offered the biggest hint yet he is on the way to Manchester City. The Belgium international was awarded Germany’s footballer of the year trophy at a ceremony on Thursday, and afterwards, he admitted he simply couldn’t commit his future to his club Wolfsberg. City boss Manuel Pellegrini said on Thursday he hopes to make one more signing before the transfer window closes... and it wouldn’t be a striker.

UNITED HAVE NOT BID FOR PEDRO

Manchester United have still to make a formal offer for Pedro... after refusing to meet his buy-out clause. The Old Trafford club have money to burn after finally completing the £46m sale of Angel Di Maria, but they want to negotiate down on the near £23m Barcelona asking price. Boss Louis van Gaal has identified the Spain international as his primary target after offloading Premier League flop Di Maria. But at 28-years-old, Pedro will have little resale value beyond this summer, and the United board are determined to negotiate better value for the forward.

BUT GUESS WHO'S BACK...

Back again. Sergio's back. Tell a friend. Sergio Ramos isn't budging on his contract demands - a healthy £7m-a-year - so expect a wave of "United handed lifeline in Ramos pursuit" articles.

NEW DEAL!

Ashley Young has penned a new deal at Old Trafford - and he looks very chuffed in the tweeted photo. "We're delighted Ashley has signed a new contract," says Louis van Gaal. "He's very professional and a great presence in the dressing room." Hmmm. No mention of his on-pitch talents from the boss. The gaffer basically said: "He tries his best and doesn't mind being the punchline of every joke."

RONDON SET FOR PREMIER LEAGUE

Solomon Rondon is currently in the United Kingdom talking to an unnamed Premier League club, according to Venezuelan reports. The front man, thought to be worth around £10million, has been linked with moves to Newcastle, Aston Villa and Everton. And now it appears that a transfer could be close to completion as the Zenit man is in England hoping to tie up a summer move.

LACAZETTE SNUBS UNITED?

Alexandre Lacazette has snubbed Manchester United in order to stay at Lyon. The striker, who was the top goalscorer in Ligue 1 last season, was thought to be one of Louis van Gaal’s top transfer targets this summer. But reports suggest that he has opted to remain in France and will put pen to paper in a four-year deal in the coming days.

WEST HAM AND EVERTON DEALT LOAN BLOW

Everton and West Ham target Alen Halilovic is wanted by Sporting Gijon. The Barcelona wonderkid is being considered for loan this season by Nou Camp bosses in order to aid his development. Moves to the Premier League could have been on the cards for the Croatian, but he could now be offered the chance to stay in Spain. However, it is believed that Halilovic will not be tempted by a move to Gijon as he has already set his sights on a season in the Premier League.

BALOTELLI REJECTS DUBAI CHANCE

Al Ahli Club had reportedly offered not-quite-super Mario an escape route from Liverpool. Probably smartly, he's swerved that one.

SALAH SIGNS FOR ROMA ON LOAN

Chelsea have loaned midfielder Mohamed Salah to Roma for the duration of next season. Salah, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Fiorentina, remains out of Jose Mourinho’s plans. Roma can exercise the option to buy Salah at any point during the loan spell.

AND DZEKO ARIVES IN ITALY

Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko is in Italy ahead of his £14million move to Roma. The bosnian striker has been pictured with a Roma scarf while being mobbed by passionate supporters greeting their new arrival. Dzeko is expected to complete a medical on Friday before the club officially announce the move as done.

SPURS STEUP UP WERNER INTEREST

Reports in Germany suggest that Tottenham are upping their interest in Stuttgart striker Timo Werner. The young front man is expected to be the subject of an offer from the Premier League club in the coming days. Reports also believe that Werner would like to stay at his boyhood club and at least see out his contract that runs until 2018.

POTTERS EYE BARCA STARLET

Stoke City are in contention to make their 10th summer signing, and the man in question is Barcelona youngster Adama Traore. Manager Mark Hughes says the club have been in talks to bring the winger to the Britannia and if the deal does go through, the Spaniard would become the fifth player they've bought from the Catalan club.

MIRALLAS PENS NEW TOFFEES DEAL

Everton  winger Kevin Mirallas has signed a new three-year contract at the club. The Belgium international, who joined the Toffees from Olympiakos in 2012, had just 12 months remaining on his original deal at Goodison Park.

BERAHINO TO SPURS?

Mauricio Pochettino hasn't ruled out a move for Saido Berahino. "But this is private, our target, and I hope it can happen quick." Hardly the most inspiring signing, but Spurs are desperate for additions up top.

NEW DEAL!

Marc Muniesa pens a new four-year deal at Stoke City. Wasn't too much speculation linking him with a switch away from the Britannia Stadium, but the Potters have acted anyway.

WHERE'S VALBUENA?

At Dynamo Moscow, still. But apparently they want rid of the diminutive Frenchman. Super agent Jorge Mendes is on the case. A switch to the Premier League or La Liga, perhaps?

WEST HAM BUSY AGAIN.

Atletico Madrid's Raul Jimenez could be ready to join the Hammers on a season-long loan. Numerous reports littering the internet today suggesting it will happen. He would become West Ham's ninth signing of the summer.

DONE DEAL!

And it's the one we've all been waiting for. Brazil's Somalia has joined Toulouse, making them unstoppable ahead of the new Ligue 1 season.

ADEBAYOR DEAL BACK ON?

Tim Sherwood reaaaaaally wants to sign Emmanuel Adebayor. Tottenham fans reaaaaaally really want him gone. Predictably, talks have stalled BUT Sherwood has suggested a deal could be revived. "If it can be revived and we think it's necessary two parties have got to agree on it. At the moment there's no agreement and he's a Tottenham player." Not the most thrilling statement, but it's certainly not a deal-ender. Why Villa would want him though. The lad is absolute pain.

FER'S BLACK CATS DEAL OFF

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat has confirmed that the club's move for QPR's Leroy Fer is definitely off. The midfielder failed a medical on Wearside on Wednesday and Advocaat has expressed his disappointment at the deal falling through.

This series is from the team at 99.7FM, tracking the latest moves in the window. We call it the #JoySports Transfer Daily. Here, we summarize all the moves and rumours in a quick, easy to read format. The series started in July 1 and ends on August 31.

When does the transfer window open?

The Premier League season wrapped up on May 24 and there has been a slew of confirmed transfers since - including James Milner and Danny Ings to Liverpool and Memphis Depay's move to Manchester United. But the window did not officially open until 12am on Wednesday 1 July 2015.

Is that the same across Europe?

No it is not. The transfer window dates for the major European leagues have yet to be finalised, but France, Germany, Spain and Italy's tends to open at the beginning of June rather than July. This means players from those leagues can agree moves into England, but transfers will not be ratified until July 1. The Dutch summer transfer window tends to open in the second week of June.
